UW picks up pair of commitments from coveted South Sound football recruits

A pair of coveted high school football recruits from the South Sound are staying home. Spanaway Lake’s D’Aryhian Clemons and Auburn Riverside’s Jonathan Epperson both announced their verbal commits to UW earlier this week.

“Ain’t no leavin the crib,” Clemons wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Epperson is considered a four-star athlete and the No. 3 player in Washington in the 2025 class in 247sports.com’s composite rankings. Clemons is considered a three-star athlete and the No. 6 player in the class in the same list.

Epperson helped guide Auburn Riverside to the Class 3A state tournament last fall, playing running back, defensive back and linebacker. He projects as a linebacker at the next level but could play a number of positions with his coverage ability and speed.

The commitments came on the heels of a successful recruiting visit weekend for Washington, which is riding the momentum of last season’s Pac-12 title and national championship game appearance, despite Kalen DeBoer bolting for Alabama and being replaced by former Arizona coach Jedd Fisch.

The Huskies now rank No. 32 nationally in 247’s overall team recruiting rankings.
