In 2021, Bryant was the recipient of Baby2Baby's Giving Tree Award, which recognizes a mother who utilizes her position in the public eye to advocate on behalf of the children the non-profit serves,
"We are so proud to announce Vanessa Bryant as this year's honoree at a time when it's even more critical for us to come together for the children we serve because of the impact of the pandemic on families in poverty," Baby2Baby Co-CEOs Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof shared in a statement at the time.
"The longtime support that Vanessa has given to Baby2Baby is incredible but it has been the behind the scenes generosity toward the children in our program with no fanfare or attention that makes her the perfect embodiment of the Giving Tree Award," the co-CEOs added.
This year’s recipient of the Giving Tree award was actress Hayek Pinault, 57, who attended with her husband, François-Henri Pinault.
Pinault thanked Baby2Baby co-CEOs Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein in her speech, calling them "impressive and inspiring" following their work with the nonprofit.
“We have a responsibility. They call in their hearts our future. They are our hope. And when we talk about essentials, I want to say something to you. Those of you that bought a pack of diapers or any of the essentials. Dignity are essential. Diapers are dignity. Make no mistake, love is an essential," Pinault said.
"... It's not just money, it is love. It is compassion. It is caring. We are all interconnected, Baby2 Baby. Thank you very much,” Pinault concluded.
