Man faces 12 charges after Parkdale dispute ends in gunfire

A 21-year-old Toronto man is facing a litany of gun-related charges after a chaotic incident in Parkdale on Friday evening.

Shortly after 7 p.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Queen Street West and Macdonell Avenue.

According to Toronto police Const. Rob Reid, four men were engaged in a confrontation that ended with one of them being assaulted. When the victim and another man tried to get into a vehicle to leave, one of the other men involved in the fight brandished a handgun and fired two bullets into the rear window of the car.

No one was struck by the gunfire.

The shooter then picked up a piece of scrap wood and proceeded to hit the vehicle multiple times, Reid said Saturday.

The attacker fled the scene, leaving seven live rounds behind, police said. He was arrested nearby shortly after.

The man faces 12 charges in total, including assault with a deadly weapon, assault and a host of other firearm-related offences.
