‘The Veil’ Trailer: Elisabeth Moss Is a Spy with a Secret in Steven Knight’s FX Limited Series

Steven Knight is currently one of the busiest writers in Hollywood. He’s gearing up to start production on a new “Peaky Blinders” movie starring Cillian Murphy while also writing the upcoming “Star Wars: The New Jedi Order,” which is set to see Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey.

But before either of those projects bear fruit, fans of Knight’s writing can look forward to his new show “The Veil.” The FX on Hulu limited series stars Elisabeth Moss as a spy who finds herself caught up in a web of secrets in a globe-trotting espionage series.

“The Veil” stars Elisabeth Moss, Yumma Marwan, Alec Secareanu, Thibault de Montalembert, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, James Purefoy, Josh Charles, Joana Ribeiro, Phill Langhorne, Dan Wyllie, Aron von Andrian, and Dali Benssalah.

According to the official synopsis, the show “explores the surprising and fraught relationship between two women (Moss and Yumna Marwan) who play a deadly game of truth and lies on the road from Istanbul to Paris and London. One woman has a secret, the other a mission to reveal it before thousands of lives are lost. In the shadows, mission controllers at the CIA and French DGSE must put differences aside and work together to avert potential disaster.”

“The Veil” was named one of IndieWire’s 12 most anticipated new series of 2024 based on the pedigree of talent involved. Moss has been one of the 21st century’s most reliable prestige TV stars, beginning with her acclaimed run as Peggy Olson on “Mad Men,” which is widely viewed as one of the greatest TV shows of all time. She followed that by playing June Osborne on Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which began as a cultural phenomenon even if the later seasons were largely reviled by critics. Knight’s popularity has also surged in recent years, as the availability of “Peaky Blinders” on Netflix and Murphy’s Oscar win for “Oppenheimer” have only brought more attention to the period crime drama.

The first two episodes of “The Veil” premiere Tuesday, April 30 on Hulu. Subsequent episodes will release each Tuesday. Watch the trailer below.
