Evacuations Continue as Wildfire Burns in West Kelowna, British Columbia

Crews continued to battle fires in and around Kelowna and West Kelowna on Sunday, August 20, as British Columbia remained under a state of emergency.

Canada’s emergency management ministry said 30,000 people have been told to leave their homes as hundreds of wildfires continue to burn across the state, CBC reported

Officials extended evacuation orders for the McDougall Creek fire on Sunday as authorities reported the fire had grown to over 27,100 acres. The fire has destroyed homes, authorities said.
