Missouri Cops Chase Lemur on the Loose in Springfield

A lemur on the loose led police officers in Springfield, Missouri, on a chase on Tuesday, September 12, before the animal was finally recaptured with the help of “a couple kind citizens”.

In a Facebook post, Springfield Police said that “after a short foot pursuit” they successfully caught the lemur and got it “snuggled up in a towel.”

Police said “city ordinance prohibits having wild animals” as a pet, so the lemur’s owners surrendered it to animal control.

The lemur was soon “connected to a local wildlife rescue agency,” police said, where it “will continue to be well cared for and loved!” Credit: Springfield, MO Police Department via Storyful
