Passengers Rescued From Vehicles as Rain Floods Northeast DC

Intense rain over the Washington DC metro area Thursday, September 10, spurred a number of water rescues as streets were inundated by inches of water, leaving some vehicles submerged, local media reported.

This footage shows DC Fire and EMS officials responding to a water rescue call on Mt. Olivet Road, where they said at least one passenger was trapped in “high water.” Officials are also seen using banana boats to check submerged vehicles for any stranded drivers on the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue.

Montgomery County Police in Maryland also rescued a driver in Kenwood.
