Police Wrangle Runaway Roo in Fort Lauderdale

Police in Fort Lauderdale had an unusual suspect in the back of a patrol car on July 16, after they captured an escaped kangaroo.

Bodycam video released by Fort Lauderdale Police Department shows officers figuring out the best way to get the animal into the car. Eventually, they manage to get a leash on it.

Local 10 said the animal was being kept as a house pet. Police said the Fort Lauderdale city code does not allow exotic animals like kangaroos within the city limits.

The animal was turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, who will be investigating the matter. Credit: Fort Lauderdale Police via Storyful
