Satellite Images Show Smoke Swirling Along Entire US West Coast

Smoke from massive wildfires burning in Washington, Oregon, and California were visible from space as dawn broke on September 11, imagery released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows.

In California alone, more than 3.1 million acres have burned this year, as fires claimed the lives of at least 19 people.

In Oregon, a half-million people have been forced to flee from wildfires.

Elsewhere, smoke from the fires has been detected as far away as Europe. Credit: NOAA via Storyful
