Tropical Storm Imelda Floods Homes in Nederland, Texas

Heavy rainfall caused by Tropical Depression Imelda left residential areas of the small Texas city of Nederland under more than a foot of water on September 19, footage from the area shows.

Nederland resident Jason Davis provided Storyful with video taken from his front porch around 9:30 am local time. The street in front of his house is entirely flooded, the video shows. Water is working its way up to his porch and is encroaching on the other houses in the area, many of which are lower to street-level.

Nederland is located just outside Beaumont, Texas, and is roughly 85 miles from Houston. Tropical Depression Imelda has pounded the area since September 17 and was expected to dump more than 30 inches of rain in some parts of the state.

Davis told Storyful that the water level in his area was at around 18 inches. Rain could be seen falling in the video, and forecasters expected rain to continue.
