West Coast Wildfire Smoke Pulled Into Pacific Cyclone

A cyclone forming a thousand miles off the US West Coast has met with clouds of smoke thrown up by the wildfires burning in California, Oregon, and Washington.

This visualization of satellite data shows the dark grey cloud swept up into the cyclone. The footage, compiled from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) website, shows the Pacific all day Saturday and Sunday, September 12-13. The cyclone can be seen the top of the globe in the center of the frame. The west coast of North America is seen to the right of the cyclone. Credit: NOAA via Storyful
