New Zealand's South Island braces for wild weather
Sodden fields and downed power lines - drone footage captured on Sunday (December 8) showed the damage around the town of Ealing on New Zealand's South Island after flooding from the Rangitata river.
Steel pylons were crumpled into mangled wrecks after strong winds ravaged the region.
The Timaru district has been in a state of emergency since Saturday (December 7) after heavy downpours caused widespread flooding.
The weather has also caused havoc around the nation's capital - Wellington - with roads closed and public urged to avoid flood waters and the sea.
On Sunday, New Zealand's meteorological service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of the South Island.
