Volunteers fan out to search for missing Calgary mom

Hundreds of volunteers are searching for a Calgary teacher who went missing more than a month ago.

Sandra Mikytiuk-Evans, 56, was last seen at her home in the community of Strathchona at the end of December.

Searchers fanned out across the southwest of the city on Saturday, among them nine canine units with the Canadian Search and Disaster Dogs Association. Four of them were flown in from B.C.

Mikytiuk-Evans, a mother of three and a teacher, is known to suffer from depression and might have stopped taking her medication, police said. Foul play is not suspected in her disappearance.

The search was scheduled to continue until dusk.

Anyone who may have seen Mikytiuk-Evans is asked the call the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
