Vote now for The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played May 20 to 25. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Sunday.

Tyson Arthur, Sumner golf — Shot a two-day 141 (70, 71) to tie for first and force a four-man playoff in the 4A boys golf tournament at Indian Canyon in Spokane. Led the Spartans to the team title.

Kaden Ausen, White River golf — Shot 71-71 and tied for a runner-up finish in the 2A boys state golf tournament at Liberty Lake.

JJ Bordeaux, Bellarmine Prep golf — Hit the shot of his life to win a four-man playoff and the 4A boys state golf title, carding an eagle on the first hole of the playoff at Indian Canyon in Spokane.

Jahaziel Brown, Mount Tahoma – Hometown T-Bird claimed two state titles at the WIAA track and field championships, including a state meet record in the 3A boys 400-dash ambulatory (57.14) at Mount Tahoma. Finished first in the 200-meter dash ambulatory (25.33).

Eddie Bruner Jr., Lincoln track and field – Abes sprinter won the 3A boys 400-meter dash title (48.53 seconds) at Saturday’s state championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium.

Malachi Chang, Franklin Pierce soccer — Scored the game-tying goal late in the second half in Franklin Pierce’s 2A state championship win over Sehome.

Marvis Christian, Franklin Pierce track and field – His mark of 22-3 grabbed the 2A boys long jump title at the WIAA state track and field championships on Friday.

Austin Gonia, Tenino baseball — Went 1-for-3 with two RBI in Tenino’s win over Cedar Park Christian in third/fourth place 1A state tournament game.

Zachary Heckinger, Auburn Mountainview track and field – Won two state titles in 3A boys shot put wheelchair (9-6.75) and javelin wheelchair (22-0) at the WIAA state track and field championships in Tacoma.

Alec Johnson, Enumclaw baseball — Threw a no-hitter in the 2A state tournament semifinals in 2-0 win over Anacortes, going seven innings and striking out 12 to send the Hornets to the state championship game.

Jordan Lasher, Yelm track and field – Tornados pole vaulter eclipsed 16-6 for the 3A boys pole vault title, setting a new meet record at the WIAA state championships in Tacoma.

Keenan Masters, Puyallup baseball — Threw 2 2/3 innings in relief against Richland in the 4A state championship game, allowing one hit, no runs, no walks and striking out six.

Burke McFarland, Cascade Christian golf — Shot a 149 (72, 77) in Chehalis to lift the Cougars to the team title at the 1A state boys golf tournament.

Mason Pike, Puyallup baseball – Carried a perfect game into the sixth inning of Puyallup’s 4A semifinal win against Bothell, throwing seven innings, allowing one hit, a walk, no runs and striking out 12.

Theo Snyder, Gig Harbor golf — Took third place in the 3A boys state golf tournament in Lacey, shooting 145 (73, 72).

Justin Temple Jr., Puyallup track and field – Vikings junior conquered winds for Saturday’s 4A boys triple jump title (45-5.5) at the WIAA state championships at Mount Tahoma.

Geron White, Federal Way track and field – Eagles junior soared to the 4A boys high jump title (6-6) despite unforgiving wind and rain at Friday’s WIAA state championships in Tacoma.
