Vote now for The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week for high school sports contests played May 13 to 18. Voting will remain open until noon Wednesday.

Hunter Anderson, Enumclaw baseball — Had a pair of singles, including the go-ahead RBI single in Enumclaw’s come-from-behind win over reigning state champion Tumwater in 2A state quarterfinals on Saturday.

John Browand, Peninsula baseball – The sophomore right-hander went six strong frames over West Seattle in Saturday’s 3A state opener, allowing two earned runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts. West Seattle held on, 2-1.

Jackson Copeland, Puyallup baseball – The first baseman’s RBI single in the sixth inning of Saturday’s 4A state opener was the effective walk-off, pushing Puyallup to the 10-run mercy rule over Newport of Bellevue.

Adam Jay, Tahoma baseball – Kept the Bears within striking distance of Eastmont in Saturday’s state opener, a 4-1 loss. Jay surrendered four runs (three earned) on 10 hits, with one walk and five strikeouts across 5 ⅓ frames. Went 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI single in the fourth inning.

Alec Johnson, Enumclaw baseball – Lockdown reliever tossed four scoreless innings to preserve Enumclaw’s 5-3 win over Kingston in Saturday’s 2A state opener, lowering his season ERA to 0.28 (25.1 IP, 1 ER).

Logan Judish, Stadium baseball – His bases-loaded, two-out single in the fourth inning of Saturday’s 3A state opener plated two runs and cut Stadium’s deficit in half in a slugfest with Eastside Catholic. The Crusaders prevailed, 10-7.

Michael LeJeune, Puyallup baseball – He dazzled across six scoreless innings in Saturday’s 4A quarterfinals against Camas. The southpaw struck out three and walked one. Puyallup cruised, 12-0.

Mason Pike, Puyallup baseball – The Vikings won two state-tournament games on Saturday, advancing to the 4A semifinals, and Pike was the MVP of both. The ace pitcher blanked Newport of Bellevue in a six-inning two-hitter (7 K, 2 BB) and 10-0 win, then went 3-for-4 with two home runs with seven RBI at the plate in a 12-0 win over Camas in the 4A quarterfinals.

Trace Pruitt, Olympia baseball – UW commit went seven strong innings in a losing effort, 2-1, to Bothell in Saturday’s 4A state opener. Surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Preston Soeum, Franklin Pierce soccer — Scored four goals in Franklin Pierce’s two state tournament games, including a three-goal hat trick in quarterfinal against Squalicum, which included a bicycle kick goal.

Benji Toscano, Auburn Mountainview soccer – Scored No. 17 Auburn Mountainview’s game-winning goal in the 64th minute to upset No. 8 Bainbridge, 3-2, in Saturday’s 3A state quarterfinals.
