Wade Williams remembered in Georgetown

The Town of Georgetown is honouring the late deputy mayor Wade Williams today.

A ceremony is being held at A.A. MacDonald Memorial Gardens this afternoon, where a plaque is being dedicated in his memory.

A sitting bench has also been handcrafted to overlook the gardens as a tribute to Williams's work with the gardens.

Williams died on June 25 after a battle with cancer.

He was 54.

Williams served on town council for 11 years.

A.A. MacDonald Memorial Gardens, located in the heart of historic Georgetown, are P.E.I.'s largest municipal gardens.

There are more than 60 flower beds, several walking paths, a pond and a fountain.
