Wait, what? Vin Diesel drops his dance music song debut 'Feel Like I Do' and he's feeling 'blessed'

You thought you had seen everything in 2020. Then came Vin Diesel dropping his dance music song debut.

You didn't see that coming.

That's right, the normally scowling "Furious" star Diesel has recorded "Feel Like I Do" on Norwegian DJ Kygo's Palm Tree Records. The song dropped Friday on Spotify and Apple music and was previewed on the "Kelly Clarkson Show."

And it's irrepressibly happy.

Diesel can bust out the bass voice, and he has. But it's generally on more serious stuff, such as the tribute song "See You Again" to his late "Fast & Furious" co-star Paul Walker (or the occasional Rihanna song in karaoke)

"I have gravitated towards more emotional songs in the past," Diesel tells USA TODAY over email. "But everyone knows I love all music. Making music was something I initially did for my family."

Diesel says that after recording the sun-kissed song, written and produced by Palm Tree Records' Petey Martin, he played it for his father, Irving.

"I remember my father listening to this song on the beach earlier this year. He really loved it and he said it should be the first song," he says.

There are no plans to put out the "Feel Like I Do" dance music video to show off the moves. Yet. Diesel's next step in the dance music universe is unclear.

"This is a new world for me. I am just grateful to be able to make music," says Diesel, who adds how he actually feels. "The simple answer is ... blessed."

"Fast & Furious 9" is due out May 22, 2021, and this could lead to a natural blending of talents down the road.

"'Fast: The Musical.' Yes, please," jokes Diesel. "Sign me up."
