Warming huts, on-ice eatery open at The Forks

Five competition-winning architectural designs destined for Winnipeg's River Trail were unveiled Jan. 24.

The victors of the annual warming hut competition showcased their structures and opened them to the public Thursday morning at The Forks.

The huts were selected from over 100 entries. A total of five huts were constructed, three from the competition, one from the University of Manitoba and another from a Montreal architect.

New this year was the addition of a pop-up restaurant.

Raw Almond set up a temporary location on the river and is offering a five-course meal for $85.

The restaurant is set up in a tent on the river and is only open for three weeks.
