The dogs are back in town.

The 148th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Presented by Purina Pro Plan is about to begin. The canine sporting event is the second-longest continuously held sporting event in the U.S.

Over the decades, the Westminster Dog Show has grown. The 2024 dog show expects to host over 2,500 canines from 213 breeds for the competition. The dogs working to win Best In Show, Westminster's top title, fall into one of seven groups: Hound, Sporting, Non-Sporting, Toy, Herding, Terrier, and Working.

All the pooches are competing to take the Best in Show crown from Buddy Holly the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, the 2023 Westminster Dog Show winner.

Along with the Best in Show competition, the Westminster Dog Show is also home to the Masters Obedience Championship and the Masters Agility Championship.

When is the 2024 Westminster Dog Show?

The 2024 Westminster Dog Show kicks off on Saturday, May 11, with the Masters Obedience Championship and the Masters Agility Championship. The event continues on Monday, May 13, with breed judging and concludes on Tuesday, May 14, with the Best in Show round and the Junior Showmanship Finals.

Where is the 2024 Westminster Dog Show held?

At New York City's Madison Square Garden for many years, the Westminster Dog Show shifted locations several times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. For 2024, the Westminster Dog Show will be hosted at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, for the second year in a row.

The majority of the 2024 Westminster Dog will be covered on FOX, FS1, and FS2. The TV network coverage of the event will be as follows:
