WATCH: Adorable donkeys see green grass for the first time ever

This adorable video of donkeys seeing green grass for the first time has gone viral.

Montgomery Creek Ranch first posted the cute scenes of their Arizona burros - small donkeys - being unable to believe their eyes after living their whole lives in the desert.

The first animal to trot out of the horsebox reverses in shock as the sight of the lush green grass is so alarming.

The sanctuary wrote on Facebook: “This is what it looks like when an Arizona burro sees green grass for the first time!

"We turned the burro herd out onto grass to get them used to this ‘foreign’ terrain before turning them out on the ranch to run free. Truly an amazing sight.”

Montgomery Creek Ranch is a wild horse sanctuary in Northern California. They currently have more than 200 horses living on their 2,000 acre site, some of which will go on to be adopted, while others will remain within the sanctuary where they are free to roam.

Their viral video has been seen by more than 2.5 million viewers since it was re-posted on Tuesday.

While most of those commenting simply wanted to express their delight at the super-cute spectacle, others had concerns that the grass could make the burros poorly.

The sanctuary responded, saying: “We are getting them used to it carefully and slowly, instead of turning them free on the ranch right away.

"They’ll get time to graze in this small pasture until they’re used to it, and when they’ve adapted we’ll be able to turn them loose.”
