Here’s how to watch the Sacramento Kings make their selections in the 2024 NBA draft

Fans of the Sacramento Kings will have an extra night of intrigue this year in the 2024 NBA draft.

The annual draft, beginning Wednesday night, will be two nights for the first time since the league instituted a new format. The second round will come Thursday night.

The change falls in line with other sports leagues that elongated their draft to maximize television audiences and revenue — as well as give teams more time to regroup between rounds. The NFL expanded its draft to three days in 2010, and the NHL draft became a two-day event in 2000.

The Kings have the No. 13 pick in the first round after losing to the New Orleans Pelicans in the second round of the play-in tournament in April. There’s chatter that the Kings might trade the pick for an established veteran to help them sooner than a young player could, as they contend with a crowded and competitive Western Conference. Sacramento picks in the second round, at No. 45 overall.

The team is hoping to fortify its roster surrounding mainstays De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray and Malik Monk. Monk agreed to re-sign with Sacramento on a four-year, $78 million contract last week before the official start of free agency.

Final NBA mock draft projections: Will Sacramento Kings keep No. 13 pick or make a trade?

The Kings last year traded their first-round pick with center Richaun Holmes to the Dallas Mavericks to clear up cap space amid signing Sabonis to a five-year, $217 million contract extension. The team later drafted guard Colby Jones from Xavier with the No. 34 pick and forward Jalen Slawson from Furman with pick No. 54.
