If you’ve ever wondered what being stung by a giant wasp capable of sending a grown adult into fits of shrieking agony looks like, well this is the video for you.

Meet the Tarantula Hawk, a wasp that earns its name for the unusual and highly morbid way it reproduces. Females of the species are known for their habit of easily stinging and paralyzing large tarantulas before dragging them off to their den. It’s there they lay an egg on top of the unfortunate spider before sealing up the entrance and trapping it inside.

Once the egg hatches the larva of the Tarantula Hawk proceeds to slowly devour the tarantula, saving its vital organs for last to keep the spider alive as long as possible.

If all that wasn’t terrifying enough, this particular wasp possesses the second most painful insect sting in the world, behind only South America’s notorious Bullet Ant.

So needless to say, you likely want to avoid coming in contact with this particular insect at all costs.

One man by the name of Coyote Peterson was brave enough to attempt to endure this wasp’s powerful sting.

It goes about as well as you would expect.
