Weird Al Yankovic bringing Mandatory Fun to Canada

Weird Al Yankovic is bringing his Mandatory Fun tour to the Maritimes this summer.

The undisputed king of pop culture parody has announced Canadian tour dates this summer for Casino Nova Scotia in Halifax and Casino New Brunswick in Moncton.

Tickets for Yankovic's July 24 show in Halifax and July 25 show in Moncton will be available for presale Jan. 27. According to Casino Nova Scotia, regular ticket sales begin Jan. 30. Tickets are $60, $70 for premium seats.

When Mandatory Fun debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 album chart last year, it was the first time a comedy album has topped the chart in more than 50 years.

His success was boosted by his "8 videos in 8 days"​ campaign which released daily Vevo and YouTube videos parodying top hits like Pharrell Williams's Happy and Lorde's Royals. The collection has more than 46 million views.

Viewers have clicked on Yankovic's Word Crimes video — a grammatically correct send-up of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines — more than 21 million times.

Weird Al Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history with over 12 million albums sold.
