Wetland space planned at Boulevard Lake

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority has received a $110,000 provincial grant to "recreate" a three-hectare wetland along Thunder Bay's Boulevard Lake.
A "functional wetland habitat" on the lake's shoreline "will capture and filter stormwater runoff, sequester carbon, and contribute to the Current River wildlife habitat corridor," LRCA chief administrator Tammy Cook said in a provincial news release.
Announced this week, the money comes from an $11-million fund the province has earmarked for wetland protection.
