What's On: Food festivals galore this weekend

There's lots to do and eat in the city this weekend. So let's get right to it!

Summerlicious

July 3 to July 26, various locations

The popular food event of the summer is back! For a bargain price, you can feast like a king or queen at one of the many participating restaurants in the city. More than 200 restaurants offer three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus. And in celebration of the city hosting the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, Summerlicious is also offering its first Culinary Event Series.

Taste of Toronto

July 2 to July 5, Fort York

Back for its second year, this is a one-stop shop for a range of food ranging from meals offered by established restaurants such as Bannock to popular food trends of the moment. You can buy an admission ticket and then get a "crown" card that needs to be loaded up with money to purchase food, drinks and other items on offer.

Graffiti Alley Tour

Saturdays at 1 p.m., meet at 'Hug Me' tree near Queen and Soho (Free through summer)

The laneways and alleyways of Queen Street West are popular with shutterbugs and those who enjoy public art. But there's a lot of debate around graffiti — does it really beautify the streetscape or is it simply vandalism? Hear the many viewpoints on this topic as part of the tour.

Fringe Festival: FringeKids

July 3 to July 12, George Ignatieff Theatre

There are even more FringeKids events to see and take part in this year! There are shows such as Hamlet: A Puppet Epic, a modern day Hansel and Gretel and a musical called The Crazy Space Adventure of Princess Sparkly Butt and the Hot Dog Kid. There are "Pick-Up+Play Stations" where kids can build a Lego land, jump in a bubble pool and dress up in costumes as well as workshops inspired by the shows taking stage.

Kidsfest

Jul 4, Toronto Centre Island

The island's Centre Amusement Park is a big hit with the kids — with the rides, attractions and animals at the Far Enough Farm. The KidsFest festival offers more fun in the form of free activities, bouncy castles and clowns.
