UPDATE: Wildfire reported in Hasler Forest Service Road area

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reported a four-hectare wildfire on May 13th in the Hasler Creek Forest Service Road area southwest of Chetwynd.

As of May 14th at 11 a.m., the wildfire has grown to 8.5 hectares.

The fire was located Monday afternoon and is currently listed as ‘out of control,’ according to the BCWS. This means the blaze is expected to spread beyond its current dimensions.

A previous wildfire was reported in the area in February on the south end of Highway 97.

The BCWS says the suspected cause is believed to be human activity.
