You Can Win a Stay at the Verona Home That Inspired Romeo & Juliet This Valentine's Day with Airbnb

This Valentine’s Day, Airbnb is looking for a modern day Romeo and Juliet to stay the night in one of the most romantic locations known to man: Juliet’s residence in fair Verona, where we lay our scene… (although hopefully, your love story will have a happier ending).

And though the tale of star-crossed lovers may be fictional, Juliet’s home does exist! A landmark and museum in the city of Verona, Italy, Juliet’s House — also known as Casa di Giulietta — is a 13th century townhouse fabled to be the inspiration behind the famous balcony scene in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Now, for the first time ever, the historic home will be opening its doors on February 14, 2020 for an overnight stay for one lucky couple, with the help of Airbnb.

According to a press release, the vacation rental site collaborated with an Italian architect to transform the home into a luxurious escape for hopeless romantics — complete with a candle-lit dining room, flower-embellished balcony and medieval-themed bedroom featuring the actual bed used in the 1968 film adaptation of the story.

From January 21 through February 2, interested couples can pen a letter to “Juliet and her secretaries” at airbnb.com/juliet, detailing their love story and explaining why they deserve the once-in-a-lifetime getaway.

The winners will receive the free stay along with a private, romantic tour of Verona and the home; the chance to read and reply to some of Juliet’s love letters; and a candlelit dinner prepared by Michelin star chef Giancarlo Perbellini.
