Windsor police arrest sleeping men in stolen vehicle, find replica firearm

Cyclist hit by vehicle on College Avenue in Windsor

Windsor police arrested two men for possession of stolen goods while they were sleeping in a stolen vehicle with stolen plates.

A resident told police his licence plate had been stolen on Friday and that he saw it on a car parked in an alleyway, police stated in a press release.

Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Howard Avenue where the car was parked and found the two men asleep in the front seats.

The vehicle was unlocked, so the officers opened the doors and told the two men they were under arrest. The startled men were taken into custody without incident.

Police said they found a black replica handgun in the vehicle and discovered the vehicle itself was stolen earlier in the week, but had not yet been reported.

Both men are charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
