Armed robber steals cash in home invasion east of Winnipeg

A 47-year-old woman died Wednesday in an accident on a rural road. Her vehicle was found submerged in a slough, said RCMP in a statement about the accident.

According to RCMP, around 12:20 p.m. CST that day, emergency crews responded to a report of a single vehicle accident on a gravel road in the Rural Municipality of Touchwood, near Lestock, Sask., which is about 150 kilometres north of Regina.

Police said crews (including ambulance personnel, a fire and rescue team and RCMP officers) found a vehicle fully submerged in a slough.

RCMP officers entered the water and located the only occupant of the vehicle, an adult female, still inside.

The woman, from George Gordon First Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene. No name was released.

An investigation is being conducted by the Punnichy detachment of the RCMP, with assistance from traffic analysts from Yorkton RCMP and Fort Qu'Appelle RCMP, as well as the provincial coroner's office.
