Woodstock Police investigating racist grafitti
The Woodstock Police Force is seeking information about inappropriate graffiti in downtown Woodstock.
In a media release on April 17, the force said it is currently investigating what it described as a “disturbing incident” that occurred over the April 12 weekend.
“Unknown perpetrators defaced the wall of Harvest House with racially derogatory graffiti,” the release said. “This inexcusable act goes against the values of inclusivity and respect that we uphold in Woodstock.”
While not detailing the offensive words or images, the force released a photo showing a part of the spray-painted message left on the building.
Harvest House is a faith-based drop-in centre and temporary shelter for struggling community members. It offers counselling, addiction recovery programs, and other services.
The release explained the Woodstock Police Force’s Street Crime Unit is actively investigating this incident.
The WPF appealed to the public for information that may help identify the culprits.
“Individuals who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage from the area are urged to come forward and contact the Woodstock Police Force at (506) 325-4601.”
