Woodstock police lay charges related to vehicle theft

The Woodstock Police Force arrested a 45-year-old man concerning the force’s investigation surrounding an abandoned vehicle.

In a news release on May 7, Deputy Chief Mark Bennett said the man will face charges of possessing property obtained in crime at a value of over $5,000 and breach of probation.

He explained the arrest involves an incident dating back to June of 2023 involving a suspicious vehicle incident in the Woodstock area.

The police explained that officers had responded to a call about an abandoned and suspicious vehicle.

“Subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and later left abandoned,” WPF explained in the release. “Through a combination of investigation and forensic analysis, officers have been able to identify the individual responsible.”
