The World's Richest Chicken Has More Money Than Most Americans

From Country Living

Allow us to introduce you to Gigoo, the hen who has has more money than the majority of Americans. The British chicken became a multimillionaire in 2002 when her owner, publishing tycoon Miles Blackwell, died and reportedly left $15 million (₤10 million) to his favorite pet.

Blackwell, 56, died just three weeks after his wife, 46, passed away, according to the Independent. Only a year earlier, the childless couple had sold their interest in the family business, according to TIME, and retired to the English countryside to breed spiral horned Manx Loghtan sheep and rare Scots Dumpy hens.

The Blackwells also left $42.5 million (₤30 million) to a charitable trust they established to benefit arts, music, and animal welfare causes, including the preservation of rare breeds.

With that kind of dough, we're guessing not even this $100,000 chicken coop is nice enough for Gigoo.
