This year's Call of Duty game will be on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has officially confirmed.

Last week, Black Ops 6 was revealed to be the next game in the first-person shooter series, although there remained much speculation on whether or not it would be coming to Game Pass.

Xbox has now moved to address the rumours by posting a blog post announcing that it will be available for both Xbox and PC Game Pass members on day one.

There is currently no news on any potential changes to subscription prices or tiers.

More information on Black Ops 6 is set to be unveiled during the next Xbox Games Showcase, which is taking place on June 9. There will also be a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct presentation following the showcase.

Other games that could make an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase include Avowed, State of Decay 3, the Perfect Dark reboot, and South of Midnight.

Following Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard King late last year, Xbox confirmed in February that Activision and Blizzard games would be added to Game Pass. Diablo 4 was added in March.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is the most recent Xbox-published game to be released on Game Pass. Ninja Theory's action-adventure title received mostly positive reviews, and there are rumours that the developer's next game has been greenlit by Microsoft.

Earlier this month, Xbox confirmed the closure of studios including Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin, an announcement that drew huge backlash.

Tango Gameworks launched the award-winning and critically acclaimed Hi-Fi Rush last year, while Arkane Austin is known for games including Redfall and 2017's Prey.
