Following a series order in March, CBS confirmed with the release of its Fall 2024 schedule that its multi-camera offshoot centered on Georgie and Mandy will be called… Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The new series will pick up where Young Sheldon left off with its series finale.

“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said in a statement on March 5. “[Executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland] have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana [Jordan] and Emily [Osment]. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”
Shortly after the news broke, Jordan weighed in on Instagram, writing: “Thank y’all for the support of Young Sheldon. I hope to deliver just what y’all are looking for in this new adventure!” Added Osment: “So thrilled to finally be able to celebrate this wonderful news I share with the best fake husband a girl could ask for…. Huge thank you to our Steves and our Chuck for putting their faith in us as well as my whole team for working tirelessly to make my everlasting multi-cam dreams come true. What will Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage be about?
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage follows “Georgie and Mandy as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage,” according to the official logline.
The title is a play on previously established Big Bang Theory lore: In the hit sitcom’s 2019 series finale, Nobel Prize winner Sheldon said he received congratulatory texts from Georgie’s ex-wife… and Georgie’s other ex-wife.
During a recent interview with TVLine, Jordan and Osment expressed hope that the spinoff would find a way to undo (or at the very least tinker with) Georgie’s marital history.
“I’m hoping that I’m the ex-wife and the new wife,” Osment said at the time. “People get divorced and remarried. Why can’t she be both?”
Who is returning for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
The Young Sheldon spinoff will star Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper and Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister.
Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones, who recurred on Young Sheldon as Mandy’s parents, have boarded the highly anticipated spinoff as series regulars. Following Georgie and Mandy’s wedding, the newlyweds, along with their infant daughter CeeCee, moved in with Jim and Audrey. Shortly thereafter, Georgie went to work for his father-in-law at the family’s auto shop, setting Sheldon’s older brother up for his Big Bang Theory future as Dr. Tire. Watch a recap below:
Who is not returning for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
It has not yet been announced whether any other Coopers will appear in the Georgie-and-Mandy spinoff — though series co-creator Steve Holland says the door is always open for guest appearances.
“I think, certainly, the characters in the world of Young Sheldon still exist in this world,” he said on May 2. “They’re still around and can make appearances and drop by” — but do they want to drop by?
“If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’d be honored to,” Iain Armitage recently told TVLine. “I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.
“It’s going to be so fun to see,” the 15-year-old said of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. “Montana and Miss Emily are both so funny and so talented, and they play off each other so well. They’re very contrasting characters… and I love them together so much.”
Revord, meanwhile, seemed less certain that she’ll play Missy again. “I’m not sure,” she told us. “I mean, if Young Sheldon had gotten more seasons, I would have 10,000% signed on to do more. But now that it’s over, I’m also kind of excited to see what else is out there and try different things. Something dramatic would be a lot of fun.” The 16-year-old is also penning her debut novel, Rules for Fake Girlfriends, due out in Fall 2025.
“I mean, I’m definitely going to go to the tapings. I have to go annoy Montana,” Revord said with a laugh. “I’ll be cheering on Montana and Emily from the sidelines.”
Who is writing Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
The Young Sheldon spinoff is being penned by Young Sheldon co-creators Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, and fellow Big Bang Theory veteran (and Young Sheldon co-showrunner) Steve Holland.
“From The Big Bang Theory to Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us,” they said in a statement. “We’re very excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy.”
Will Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage look and feel like Young Sheldon?
Unlike Young Sheldon, which pivoted to a single-camera format, the Georgie-and-Mandy spinoff will revert to multi-cam and shoot in front of a live, studio audience — just like Big Bang Theory.
Does Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage have a release date?
An episode count and release date for Season 1 have not yet been confirmed, but the series will air in Fall 2024, in a time slot previously occupied by both Big Bang and Young Sheldon: Thursdays at 8/7c, only on CBS.
