1940s-era bomb found in southern Alberta field

An unexploded Second World War-era bomb was found on an acreage northwest of Lethbridge, Alta.

A man called RCMP on Wednesday after he discovered the bomb buried in the grass.

Bomb experts from Canadian Forces Base Suffield near Medicine Hat were called in to examine the device.

They identified it as an 11.5-pound practice bomb from the 1940s, likely dropped from an airplane during training exercises.

The bomb was taken to CFB Suffield where it will be detonated safely, officials said.
