Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak in the running for campaign’s sexiest candidate

The man who brought us the sexiest candidate contest during the last federal election is back with an Ontario-centric version of the popular website.

Blogger Zach Bussey launched the new site Thursday with pictures of 32 men and 32 women candidates who, prior to the Oct. 6 election, will battle it out online for the title of 'Ontario's sexiest candidate.'

"When we did it for the federal election, there was a lot of great feedback from the candidates involved, in terms of publicity for them and traffic being driven to their own websites," Bussey told the Toronto Star, adding the federal competition garnered nearly 250,000 votes.

"So we thought, why not do it for the Ontario election?

"It is a lighter side of politics. But when you're introducing politics to someone who has shown no interest before, it's not a bad thing. We do have a lot of voter apathy."

Aside from just ogling 'beautiful' people on Bussey's site, readers will be able to vote on hottie matchups between candidates from different ridings.

Those candidates who don't win these daily attractiveness contests will be eliminated, while those with the most votes will remain in contention.

One of Thursday's match-ups included Tory leader Tim Hudak up against Liberal MPP Brad Duguid. As of noon Friday, however, Duguid was headed towards a landslide victory with more than 70 per cent of the vote.

When asked what he thought of his inclusion in the contest, Hudak responded: "I don't know if there are enough Micheal Keaton fans from the 80s still out there to go very far in this contest."

Hudak apparently believes he has a likeness to actor Michael Keaton. On Thursday he told CTV News if Hollywood ever did a movie about Ontario politics, he'd pick Keaton to play him.

But alas, it seems in politics looks don't matter much.

Out of the eight finalists in the federal sexiest candidate contest, only Justin Trudeau was elected to Parliament.
