Mattress and snow pile create natural wonder in Regina

They call it the Saskatchewan Hoodoo.

It doesn't quite have the natural majestic quality of Utah's Chinle Formation, nor the beauty of the rock formations, known as hoodoos, in Alberta. But the prairies had their own wonder of the world for a fleeting moment this spring and it has earned Regina some online attention.

A mattress placed atop the snow, no doubt in the dead of winter, appears to have shaded the area while all of the nearby snow melted. The result is a lone pillar of dirty snow that elevates the mattress, as though it's a trophy on display.

"Hurry and go see this natural wonder before it's too late!" wrote the radio station that posted an image to Facebook.

Alas, others have since commented the mattress is gone, leaving only the oddly-shaped snow pile. While some said the formation had amused them on their daily commute, others complained about garbage left in public.

A few people described similar snow formations in nearby towns made from deer carcasses and in one case, a piece of insulation.
