Mid-flight note war: ‘Bachelor’ producer takes on the woman in seat 7A
The TV producer of the Bachelor engaged in a Thanksgiving battle of pens and glowers with a woman on his flight to Los Angeles who was impatient about delays.
Elan Gale, producer of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, was one of many people flying home for Thanksgiving on Thursday. Among his fellow travellers on a US Airways flight would emerge an enemy sitting nearby, a Diane, in seat 7A. She may have been in her late fifties or early forties, by Gale's judgement, and she was wearing jeans and a medical mask.

He overheard her complaining to the airline staff about a delay to the flight. And then he began to tweet everything.
Our flight is delayed. A woman on here is very upset because she has Thanksgiving plans. She is the only one obviously. Praying for her

She's telling the flight attendants that it is Thanksgiving. She wants them to know she wants to have dinner with her family — elan gale (@theyearofelan) November 28, 2013
The male flight attendant said "I understand ma'am. I'm looking forward to seeing my family too." She responded "This isn't about you"

Her family is very important to her, she says. Her family has a special recipe for stuffing. She needs to be there to help. It is crucial — elan gale (@theyearofelan) November 28, 2013
Once the flight took off, Gale decided to prod the angry woman with whom he was trapped on a flight from New York to L.A., because she was still complaining, according to his tweets.

She's pushing her call button a lot — elan gale (@theyearofelan) November 28, 2013
Gale tweeted that a flight attendant who was shaking his head about the budding mid-air fiasco gave him two miniature bottles of vodka, but refused to deliver them to Diane. So Gale did it himself.
Oh my God I did it I walked as if I was going to the bathroom and I leaned over and put them on her tray table and walked away Oh my God

She just stared at me like REALLY hard. She was breathing through her teeth and I think she just couldn't believe I was doing that — elan gale (@theyearofelan) November 28, 2013
Before long, Diane responded to Gale's note with a line of tersely written cursive. Target engaged.

But the fun wasn't over yet, as these two pals wrote another note apiece, exchanging good wishes and thanks on this joyous holiday. Ahem. Then Elan wrote another, even ruder note, which he thought might be his last. It wasn't the last word.
Well, "Diane" just slapped me — elan gale (@theyearofelan) November 28, 2013
And so, with a slap and one last note directing the woman to find him online, this lengthy tale of a Thanksgiving voyage comes to an end. Except for the blog post Elan Gale posted to his website afterward, criticizing Diane for being unfair to service employees who have families too.
