NDP MP Jack Harris’ phone rings while speaking in House of Commons

It's often embarrassing when your cellphone goes off in a quiet theatre or during a work meeting. But those are nothing compared to when an MP's phone started ringing while he was talking in the House of Commons. And the cameras caught everything.

NDP MP for St John's East Jack Harris was talking about Defence Minister Peter MacKay keeping information secret as it related to the suicide of Corporal Stuart Langridge when the ringing started. At first he kept speaking maybe thinking it would stop after one ring, but was unable to speak over the chorus of boos. He then bent down to get it.

MacKay quickly shot back saying, "I think that was the honourable member's truth calling, but he's not answering."

In case you are wondering, just like in school, cellular phones are not allowed in the Chamber.
