The cub, named Yuan Zai, is the first offspring of giant pandas Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan. She was born on July 6 and weighed just 6 1/2 ounces. Now a month old, little Yuan Zai is still weeks away from being able to stand or walk.

The pandas' caregivers are currently limiting their mother-daughter time — they live in separate cages — to ensure the mom doesn't kill or eat her daughter. The AFP reported that the cub was "slightly injured" by her mother in the first days after her birth.
