Duckling follows breeder ‘dad’ everywhere — even to the pub

An 11-month-old duckling named Star is making headlines thanks to some very un-duck-like behaviour.

The young Indian Runner Duck follows its owner and breeder, 65-year-old Barrie Hayman, everywhere.

"He just won't leave me and so now we go everywhere together," said Hayman. "I've not trained him to follow me, he just seems to like it and he is one fantastic duck — I've never known any like it before."

Star follows along on errands, visits the local pub and waits patiently in the grocery store lobby while Hayman shops.

Hayman says the bird won't mix with the other ducks — there are 10 other ducks and 12 ducklings in his care — and shows signs of distress near his own kind. Star would sooner just waddle after his owner.

Now a local celebrity, Star even has his own Facebook page which reads, "I am an Indian Runner Duck. My daddy is my best friend. I love wriggly worms and I follow my dad everywhere. I watch TV with him, especially rugby, and I even share his beer!"
