Woman lives large in what may be New York’s smallest apartment

Think your apartment is small? Try living in 90 square feet.

Felice Cohen does just that. And she's not complaining.

The writer and professional organizer's tiny New York apartment is becoming a bit of a real-estate celebrity. Watch Cohen give a tour of her impeccably organized 90-square-foot apartment below (via FairCompanies.com):

Cohen was willing to sacrifice space for financial peace of mind. She pays a mere $700 (USD) a month to live one block from Central Park — a price unheard of in Manhattan.

The organizational genius managed to make the closet-like space functional enough for her to live there for years. She has a home office, makeshift kitchenette and ceiling-grazing loft bed.

She gave The Globe and Mail a few tips on living simply and strategically — she's most proud of the shelving unit and her use of vertical space — touting the benefits of her streamlined life:

"Sure I don't have a large refrigerator or an extra room, but when it comes down to it, I live in New York city, steps from Central Park, Lincoln Center, numerous restaurants, theater and wonderful museums. I don't value owning a lot of material possessions."

This makes me insanely claustrophobic just watching it! I'm not really materialistic, but I'm from out in the boonies and I need space to breathe and roam. Right now, my beau and I are staying with his parents. Meaning that the both of us pretty much live in his 12x12 room and its been driving us mad everyday.

Exactly what my cousin said to me, nearly verbatim, several years ago when others kept criticizing me because of the geographic limitations (for me) of where I live. She said, "you have to blossom where you are rooted". I used to think I had issues with the small box type apartment I live in (no storage the most annoying) but I always tried to maintain a positive outlook & be thankful I have a place to live when I see & hear of so much devastation around the globe. A multiplicity of people in the USA are constantly being wiped out by tornado's & flooding...even here in Canada. I'm sheltered & protected in my lake side little nest of a town. It's quite self contained. I've had others compliment me that I can turn just about any space into a home. I'm thankful that it's easy to clean; a quick dust & a wipe is all it takes. I have everything I need to survive...rent's CHEAP, it could be worse :D

I admire her, indeed I envy her. I have often fantasised about what it would be like to own nothing. In a world gone mad with materialism this woman is a heroine

To all of you sweetie pies. Just keep in mind, that it is not the space, it is not the neighborhood, and it is not the opulence where you live.

The trick is making yourself happy and find your home wherever your heart is.

I live in a tiny winy apartment, well, bigger than what this lady has. One small bedroom, a very small kitchen, only one small closet for jackets, and a little closet for my clothes.

To make it worse, my neighborhood is not the best one in town. Last year, there was a suicide incident right inside my building, and two weeks ago, there was a gang member killed right on my back alley where my parking lot is.

You know what, I make good money, and I could afford to pay a better apartment, but I choose to pay $700.00 dollars a month, and do some charity here and there, and travel as well.

At the meantime, I have a control freak boyfriend who is waiting for me to make up my mind to move to a 4 bedroom house, a big beautiful backyard, and you name it. The amount of pluses is endless. In top of all that, the house is by one of the most opulent areas in my city.

Guess what, I have decided to live in my little dangerous apartment instead of giving up my identity, and fell like a prisoner in a palace.

I just love my little dangerous shuck.
