Video game ‘GRID 2’ gets exclusive pre-order bonus – for almost $200,000

GRID 2: Mono Edition comes with a BAC Mono supercar, a street-legal vehicle that will be made with custom specifications to you.

Racing game fans can get pretty involved in their hobby (you can find setups like this one all over YouTube), but it takes a really dedicated fan to shell out nearly $200,000 for a game pre-order bonus.

British game developer Codemasters has set a record for its GRID 2: Mono Edition, available now for pre-order ahead of the game’s launch next week. If you’re willing to pay £125,000, you can get some neat bonuses with your game purchase – including a car.

For about $195,000 CAD, you’ll get a PS3 version of the game GRID 2, a PlayStation 3 to play it on, a branded racing suit, helmet, boots and gloves, as well as a brand new, fully functional BAC Mono supercar. The company is also throwing in a day at the BAC factory for a tour, and to spend time with technicians to make sure the BAC Mono is made to your size and specifications.

SLIDESHOW

The BAC Mono is made in Britain, made from carbon fibre and can go from 0-60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds. And if you want to drive your new car out on the road, that’s cool: it’s street legal (at least in Britain).

The pricey pre-order has earned the title by Guinness World Records, Euro Gamer reports, as the “Most Expensive Video Game Commercially Available – Special Edition.” The record will be appearing in the next Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition.

If you miss out on the one GRID 2: Mono Edition available, you can still pick up the game on May 28 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, for the much less intimidating price of $59.99 (MSRP).
