    Video: America’s longest married couple

In this video, we meet Wilbur and Teresa Faiss, America's longest-married couple. The Las Vegas residents were first wed in April, 1933. Wilbur, now 100-years-old, tells KVVU TV, "I just had no idea of us ever winning the longest-married couple."

A group called the Worldwide Marriage Encounter certified the marriage as the nation's longest ongoing union. On a recent trip to Nevada, President Obama was even scheduled to deliver brief remarks acknowledging the couple.

"How often does an ordinary guy get recognition by the president of the United States? It's one of these things that's once-in-a-lifetime," Faiss said. Unfortunately, the couple were late to the event and Obama had to remove the remarks from his speech. However, the White House has told Wilbur and Teresa that the president will be returning to Nevada in the next few months and will make the remarks to the couple then.

As for the secret to their wedded bliss as they approach their 80th anniversary, Wilbur says, "It's very simple. It's give and take and compromise."

This Video isn't entirely correct 80 years great for them but...

The longest married couple is actually Marshall Kuykendall and his wife Winnie Kuykendall who have been married since 14 February 1929 which is 83 years, 54 days and counting and this couple lives in New Mexico.

They both look great for 100, most people that old look dead.
My wife and I have been married 27 years and it feels like only 10 years. We are still excited about the next 27 years together.
I just can't comment without saying my thoughts on making it last. Here go's...
      Best friends first
EVERYDAY Treat your spouse with the amount of love, consideration, support, kindness and trust as you want from them.
Make sure you each feel good about one another EVERYDAY
      Be unselfish!

      There's probably another 100 "to-do's"

31 years and counting. Agreed, it only feels like a few years. Maybe not having kids helped a LOT!

Great for these two people. Rather than the President making a trip to Nevada he could bring them to Washington so they could instruct Congress in a little give and take (i.e. compromise)

I doubt very much if either of them are up to traveling. Flying, even in Air Force One, it very hard on the body. I wouldn't chance it for my folks

I'm 34 and have been married for 15 years. We've had our rough times like everyone else but the constant reminder is that our love for each other and purpose with our children outweighs the bickering and differences in opinion. Learning to compromise, even if you feel you're getting the short end of the stick is essential.

My friend the true test will come in your 40's. At 34 my marriage was going great. By 40 I didn't know who she was anymore. You will remember this little massage 10 years from now. I wish you the best.

and the absolute truth is when he makes it to his 50's HE will be out running around with any two-bit floozie just to remind him that yes he can get it up and will never get old. By the time he is 60 he will be knocking on her door wanting to get back together but she has moved on and loves that she doesn't have to put up with all the crap she put up with for years and years and that life is actually very good contrary to what she thought when he decided to end the marriage

In this day and age people give up to easily. If something happens in a marriage it's easier to just leave then to try and fix whatever it is. It dosen't matter what the problem is. If you truly love someone you will make it work.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM. Our parents passed a few months ago (within 90 days of each other). They were at 72 years married and in their mid 90's. Their words of advice to us on our marriage 35 years ago was. NEVER go to bed angry and don't allow divorce as an option. Make a commitment to the marriage and find a way to work it out. Always stay each others Best Friend. We listened and got through some real tough stuff (loss of children, major health issues, etc) and are so glad we made it work. Still Very Happy now in our Golden Years.
