Body found off Waterfront Drive near Red River, police say

Man, 18, arrested after stolen car crashes in Winnipeg

Police are asking for help from the public in identifying a body located near the Red River in the city's Exchange District.

The body of a man was found next to a walking path near Waterfront Drive and Galt Avenue on Friday at 10 p.m. Police believe the man may have been riding a bicycle at the time, adding no foul play is suspected.

"Attempts to identify this individual have at present met with negative results," police said in a statement. "It is believed that the male has had no past dealings with police."

The man is described as 50 to 60 years old, and about 5'10'' with a medium build. He has brownish-reddish hair, is balding and has no facial hair.

He was wearing a white T-shirt with blue sneakers that had a red swoosh design and yellow laces, police said.
