Bomb threat at PM's residence leads to arrest

A man has been charged following a bomb threat early Monday at Prime Minister Stephen Harper's official residence at 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, RCMP said.

The 35-year-old man, from Gatineau, Que., is facing charges, but there are no further details.

RCMP said they received a call at 2 a.m. ET about a bomb threat, but found nothing at the residence, and determined there had been no safety threat to Harper or his family.

Gatineau police Lt. Yves Comtois said the suspect is "well known" to local authorities, and threw multiple objects at police when they arrived.

The man has been charged with assault and uttering threats.
