Brad Badiuk, Winnipeg teacher suspended over Facebook comments, on unpaid leave
Brad Badiuk, a Winnipeg high school teacher who was suspended for controversial Facebook comments about aboriginal people, has now been placed on unpaid leave, a school trustee told CBC News.
Badiuk, an electronics teacher at Kelvin High School, was placed on paid leave last month while the Winnipeg School Division began investigating the comments.
Winnipeg School Division trustee Mike Babinsky told CBC News late Wednesday that Badiuk's unpaid suspension has already been in effect for a number of days, although it's not clear how many.
Badiuk drew fire for posting derogatory remarks on Facebook about First Nations people in general, and specifically mentioned Grand Chief Derek Nepinak of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.
