Calgary police investigating early morning smash-and-grab

Calgary police are investigating an early morning smash-and-grab in northeast Calgary where suspects used a truck to ram their way into Marlborough Mall.

Just after 4 a.m., police were called to the mall in the 3800 block of Memorial Drive N.E.. Police say at least two suspects entered a jewelry story and stole several items.

Staff Sgt. Jim Stinson says police were alerted by the jewelry store's owner who was able to view the robbery through a remote security system.

The offenders then fled the area in the truck.

Police are looking for a 2006-2008 light-coloured Ford 350 with chrome running boards and significant front-end damage from the incident. Stinson suspects the vehicle was stolen.

"I wouldn't be using my own truck to do a break-in," he said.

The first suspect is described as Caucasian man wearing a scarf, hoodie, jeans, a red undershirt and a dark blue jacket. The second suspect wore a dark mask on his face and was dressed in a grey hoodie, jeans, dark running shoes with white soles.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
