Catie Miller search for evidence continues in Lawrencetown

Exactly one week after police started their search for the remains of Dartmouth murder victim Catie Miller, forensic investigators remain at one of the four crime scenes.

Halifax Regional Police say officers are still gathering evidence near a trail in Lawrencetown near Cole Harbour, but can't say how much longer they will be there.

Last Wednesday, police started looking for clues at four locations: a house in Lawrencetown, a property in Sheet Harbour Passage, a wooded area in Goffs and the trail in Lawrencetown.

On the first day of the search, police found human remains at one of the locations but would not say which one. Police are waiting to hear from the medical examiner whether the remains are those of Miller.

The 29-year-old Dartmouth mother of one went missing in mid-July.

Police called it a missing persons case but recently revealed that they suspected early on that Miller was a victim of homicide.

Trio charged

Three people have been charged in the case.

Jason Johnson, 29, of Halifax and his girlfriend Kelly MacDonald, 33, of Lawrencetown, have been charged with first-degree murder and interfering with Miller's remains.

George Hubley, 30, of Sheet Harbour Passage, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact by disposing of her remains.

Police have said MacDonald and Hubley did not know Miller, but the murder victim knew Johnson.
