Cooler than average temperatures expected for April

An Environment Canada meteorologist is warning that April temperatures will be colder than average, at least to start the month.

"The first week definitely colder than normal," said meteorologist Peter Kimbell. "For the second week, good chance of colder than normal, but by the middle of the month…maybe we'll be close to normal for the rest of the month. That's the best we can say at this point."

Kimbell said the cooler than normal temperatures continues a trend.

"We're about three degrees below normal, so the continuation of the trend for the last few months continues," said Kimbell. "It was dry as well. We only had 20 millimetres of precipitation so far, and and that is definitely dryer than normal."

On the bright side, Kimbell said temperatures in March this year were warmer than in 2014.
